Protect yourself when outdoors by wearing protective clothing- long-sleeved shirts, pants, boots or sturdy shoes and a hat or other head coverina. e Use insect repellent that contains DEET for clothes and skin. * Check yourself, children, family and pets for ticks every 2-3 hours . Remove ticks promptly by grasping it with tweezers, as close to the skin as possible and gently, but firmly, pulling it straight out.
