th 19 4 6 20 21 CGH AUXILIARY ANNIVERS ARY On November 4, 1946, Mrs. Hellen M. Lawrence hosted a meeting at her home to discuss the shortage of nurses caused by World War I. This marked the start of the CGH Auxiliary. Seventy-five years later, their story continues to unfold. Their legacy is still evident in the more than 20,000 hours of "hands-on" service Auxiliary members provide to our patients, visitors, and staff. The CGH Auxiliary serves 25 CGH departments. Services include: escort and wheelchair transport, encouraging oncology patients, and assisting customers in the hospital's gift shop. The Auxiliary healthcare scholarships and annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony are also key projects for our volunteers.
